The work of a lifetime
With the Mass in B minor, completed in the evening of his life, Bach seems to have wanted to bring together the styles he had explored throughout his career, bringing them to their highest degree of expression. This monument is the final achievement of a man whose spiritual quest transcended both Lutheranism, of which he was a child, and Catholic worship, for which this Latin Mass seems destined.
This will be the first Mass in B in Beaune for 30 years, and the first appearance of Vox Luminis, arguably the most sought-after ensemble performing Bach's music today.
