Every year, the “Fantastic Picnic” transforms the region into a land of feasting and conviviality.
At Fontenay Abbey, this is a day of countryside fun and fine food, inviting you to discover local and artisanal produce in the unique setting of the abbey and its valley.
An 8km gourmet walk will take place in the morning in the Fontenay valley, with stops to sample Crémant de Bourgogne and local produce. Places on the walk are available by booking on the abbey’s website.
The walk ticket also entitles you to a free visit to Fontenay Abbey on the same day.
A market featuring local craftspeople and producers will be held on the large meadow at the entrance to the abbey.
Food and drink will be available on site, along with musical entertainment and a hot-air balloon launch at the end of the day.
Schedule for the day:
9.00 am, stallholders set up.
10.00 am, start of the walk.
12.00 pm, food available on site (a large marquee will be set up in the middle of the market).
5.00 pm: hot-air balloon launch (weather permitting)
6.00 pm: market closes.
