Created in 2018 on the initiative of the French-Korean cellist Sung-Won Yang, the Beethoven Festival in Beaune promotes chamber music that is both demanding and accessible, fostering close ties between artists and audiences. Committed to its local community, it also carries out outreach and awareness-raising activities for all kinds of audiences, in conjunction with hospitals, audiences far removed from music and the Beaune Conservatoire.
The Beaune Beethoven Festival is back for another edition from 23 to 26 April 2026. For four days, the town of Beaune will be hosting a major chamber music event with a timeless flavour.
This year's event will honour Ludwig van Beethoven through some of his most emblematic works, in particular his last quartets and piano trios. The programme will combine Beethoven with works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Franz Schubert's Cello Quintet, a masterpiece of the Romantic period.
The festival will also give pride of place to contemporary music, with the world premiere of a work by Éric Montalbetti and the French premiere of a piece by Danish composer Bent Sørensen.
True to its identity, the Beethoven Festival in Beaune celebrates chamber music as an art of sharing and listening. It will bring together artists of international renown, including the Trio con Brio Copenhagen, the Cuarteto Casals, pianist Enrico Pace, harpist Isabelle Moretti, flutist Yae Ram Park and cellist Sung-Won Yang.
The concerts will take place at La Lanterne Magique and the Salle Saint-Nicolas at the Hospices de Beaune, offering audiences a unique musical experience in the heart of Beaune's heritage.
