Historical Investigations > From the Dukes of Burgundy's wine trade to the Hospices de Beaune wine auction
Heritage professionals invite you to decipher the archives and historical correspondence of the Hôtel-Dieu. With the help of experts and supporting evidence, these guided tours of the old treatment rooms offer a unique insight into the centuries-old hospital, providing a better understanding of the major transformations and restorations that took place between the 15th and 20th centuries.
Once upon a time, the hospital was a winegrower... As part of the 165th Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale, revisit the history of the Hôtel-Dieu through the prism of the winegrowing activities of the Hospices Civils de Beaune: From the first donations of vines to the Hôtel-Dieu to the creation of the Hospices de Beaune wine auction, from the policies of the Dukes of Burgundy to the wine appellations, a history of the wine trade can be traced through the account registers, notarial deeds and correspondence preserved in the Hôtel-Dieu archives.
